TERM GOALS

My overall mission is to:

• Faithfully serve the people of Chatham County
• Not only prosecute, but to be a leader in advancing prosecutorial techniques, to be an innovator of programs designed to address the root causes of crime in an effort to reduce the amount of crime in the county, and to educate the public with respect to the District Attorney’s Office and its Crime Prevention Initiatives
• Be an innovator of ideas with respect to victim advocacy and community protection
• Always seek the truth thereby protecting the innocent
• Hold the Guilty Accountable

My Goal:

To make Chatham County a safe place to live through unbiased, ethical, effective and efficient criminal investigations and prosecutions while simultaneously instituting proactive and smart crime prevention initiatives.
My Vision:

• To educate the community about the work of the District Attorney’s office, crime prevention initiatives, and justice.
• To modernize inter and intra office technology in order to provide improved accountability and increased efficiency.
• To develop innovative and proactive community-wide partnerships and programs designed to address the root causes of crime in an effort to reduce crime and the rate of recidivism.
• To establish clear expectations for staff performance and provide relevant training for all staff in order to better serve the needs of the county.
• To ensure that justice is done fairly and efficiently while maintaining the highest degree of ethical standards and accountability.

My Smart on Crime Approach Involves:

• The vigorous prosecution of the most serious repeat offenders – establishing a repeat offenders unit within the office that will prosecute the most serious repeat offenders within approximately 90 days of indictment, thereby removing them off of our streets and out of our county jail which will in turn make our communities safe and saving taxpayers some money;
• The development of programs and community partnerships designed to address the root causes of crime in an effort to keep people from committing crimes;
• The creation of new rehabilitation and re-entry/back-on track programs aimed at preventing our young offenders from returning to a life of crime and putting them on a path to success;
• The creation of a DA Community Advisory Board and community Assistant District Attorney Liaisons who will work closely together to address the needs of each neighborhood; and
• Establish a Crimes Against Children Unit, a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit, a Public Integrity/White Collar Crime Unit and a Cold Case Unit.
• Always doing that which is the right thing to do - balancing justice with fairness.
